Book Reading

I've started reading 'classic' books . Or at least those that might be deemed classics. If you Google 'Classic books' you will get a pretty similar list repeated. Most are books I've never heard off :) Many are American, so thats probably why. Well here is my list as I read them.

Castle Rackrent by Maria Edgeworth

Written 1794-1798

Plot: The decline of an Anglo-Irish family estate
Most memorable line: ".. I'm tired wishing for any thing in this world, after all I've seen in it-..." Thady Quirk
Why read it: As an Irish person from a farming background  it makes me smile how little we've changed

The Monk  by Matthew Lewis

Written 1796

Plot: A twisty tale of mystery and the supernatural
Most memorable line: "Having weathered Fate's heaviest storms, they looked calmly upon it's terrors: or if ever they felt affliction's casual gales, they seemed to them gentle as zephyrs which breathe over summer seas."
Why read it: Get past the first few pages and the rest is a real page turner. You find yourself wondering "What next?"
